THE THREE THOUSANDTH CALF BORN AT THE NEZHINSKAYA DAIRY
The jubilee newborn was a female and thoroughbred Holstein calf.
This is the three thousandth calf which has been born since the beginning of 2017 at the Nezhinskaya dairy in the Furmanovka village of the Nesterov municipality. On average, the farm of the agricultural holding company DolgovGrupp produces up to 300 calves a month.
Straightway after birth, they are placed in specially equipped individual houses specially delivered from Germany. When the calves become stronger, they will be moved to more spacious houses with rearing installations for walking and several relatives.
The farm closely monitors the health and nutrition of the young; special vaccination programmes and special diets have been developed for them. By the way, the animals in the agricultural holding company are fed exclusively with their home-produced feeds grown in the Kaliningrad region’s environmentally-clean areas.
In addition to cowsheds and calf sheds, the farm also has a maternity ward, a dispensary and a few canopies for loose keeping youngsters without stalls. All the premises, in which animals are kept, are built according to individual design.
It is worth noting that today Nezhinskaya is one of the largest modern livestock centres in Europe with a livestock population of 12,000. In 2012, the dairy received the status of a breeding farm-reproducer for breeding the Holstein cattle breed.
All the milk, that is produced in the dairy (from 70 to 120 tons per day), is shipped to the Gusevmoloko plant. It is there that all the dairy products of the Nezhinskaya brand are produced.
