HEAD OF THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR OF THE REGION NAMED ITS KEY OBJECTIVE
The Kaliningrad region’s Minister of Agriculture N.E. Shevtsova, during a working visit, saw the fields of the DolgovGroup Agricultural Group in the Zelenogradsk municipality, where grain crops are currently being sown.
The Group’s Chief Agronomist A.I. Melkovich informed the minister about the progress of work. Mr Melkovich emphasised that everything had worked out well according to plan. In the Zelenogradsk municipality, 800 hectares of spring wheat and 500 hectares of spring barley will be sown. In general, the Group will carry out spring sowing on an area of more than 20,000 hectares of land. Wheat, barley, rye, corn as well as perennial grasses and vegetables will be sown. In addition, more than 30,000 hectares were sown with winter crops in the fall of 2019. Now they are being fed. Own grain crops and crops processing facilities will provide high quality feed for all animals and birds raised in the Agricultural Group.
According to Ms Shevtsova, due to the coordinated actions of the Governments of the Russian Federation and Kaliningrad Region, all pre-conditions have been created in the region for the smooth operation of the agricultural sector and the fulfilment of the main task, preserving food security. Today, the region provides itself with its own products of all major items.
In turn, A.I. Melkovich said that all companies of the DolgovGroup Group had operated in a normal mode as well. This means that the residents of the Kaliningrad region will be provided with dairy and meat products, poultry and eggs.
