A delegation fr om Smolensk State Agricultural Academy headed by the rector A.V. Kuchumov paid a working visit to the Kaliningrad Region last week. The purpose of the visit was cooperation on training personnel for the agrarian sector of the region.
The visit took place as a result of agreements reached during the visit of a delegation fr om the DolgovGroup agricultural holding in March this year to the academy, where the parties agreed to work together in this direction.
The heads of the academy visited the holding's enterprises located in the Guryevsk, Gusev and Nesterov districts: the Guryevsk poultry farm, the feed and rapeseed factories, Gusevmoloko LLC, and the Dairy and Meat factories. Working meetings were held with Alexander and Dmitry Dolgov, the founders of the holding, as well as with leavers of schools located in the east of the region, and students of the Gusev College of Agrotechnology and Environmental Engineering.
The central event of the week was a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kaliningrad Region, wh ere a trilateral agreement on cooperation was signed between the Ministry, the Smolensk Academy and Dairy Factory LLC, which is part of the DolgovGroup structure. The agreement was signed by N. Ye. Shevtsova, the Minister of Agriculture, A.V. Kuchumov, the rector of the Academy, and A.A. Dolgov, the founder of the DolgovGroup agricultural holding.
The document provides for the interaction of the parties in the field of training, retraining and advanced training of specialists in the agro-industrial sphere and veterinary medicine. The Academy will provide training for specialists based on the integration of scientific, educational and industrial activities, which guarantees their competitiveness in the labour market. At the same time, students will be able to undergo practical training and internships at the Dairy Factory. The company will promote the employment of graduates who show themselves in the best possible way.
As Natalia Shevtsova emphasised, ‘in the Kaliningrad region, the agro-industrial complex is the most important link in the economy which demonstrates stable and confident growth in most indicators and retains leading positions in many areas of activity, both in the North-West Federal District and in Russia as a whole. Agriculture is probably the most technologically advanced business. However, today we are faced with a situation when new directions of the agricultural industry have been developed in our region, advanced technologies are being applied, but the training of specialists lags a little. I am very pleased that one of the largest agricultural companies in the region initiated the preparation highly qualified personnel and the signing of an agreement. I hope that our cooperation will lead to completely new opportunities, when we will be able to make a targeted order and get specialists who will not only have high qualifications themselves, but will also be able to transfer the experience gained’.
The minister's words were confirmed by Aleksey Kuchumov who said that he and his colleagues were impressed by the work of the DolgovGroup enterprises. At the same time, he clarified that ‘on the basis of the academy, there are probably practically all areas of training specialists for the agro-industrial complex, all stages of training are being implemented, including bachelor's, master's, postgraduate studies, advanced training and retraining of personnel. We strive to keep up with the times, we look at the needs of both our region, and after signing this agreement, we will focus on training specialists for your region as well. We are ready to make adjustments to our curricula and thematic plans in order to train narrower qualified specialists for the farms and directions of the agrarian industry in your region’.
Commenting on the signing of the document, Alexander Dolgov noted: ‘For our part, we are interested in such work with the Smolensk Agricultural Academy. Our guests visited the enterprises of the holding and saw wh ere graduates of this university can work. We also discussed the issues of improving professional training and our specialists who have a lot of practical experience and can receive higher education in absentia on the basis of this university. We are interested in accepting specialists in all areas that the university prepares, and we are ready to interact. Only through close teamwork can results be achieved. And today our guests have seen how this teamwork is being built in our region’.
